The NFL Most Valuable Player Award is right up there among the most prestigious individual awards in sports.
Certain players can rise above the rest through sheer talent and dominance, taking their team deep into the NFL Playoffs every year. As such, bettors know that the biggest potential payouts happen before the NFL season even starts, while everyone is still on a level playing field.
Who’s got the edge when it comes to the current NFL MVP odds at Bovada? How about some players with longer odds that could pay off a big deal?
Let’s kick off the NFL MVP odds race now with a preview of the favorites and some dark horse candidates.

Patrick Mahomes +525
With two previous NFL MVP awards under his belt, Patrick Mahomes is still at the top of his game and he knows how to win.
Mahomes is the undisputed leader of the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. To help him out this past off-season, they added one of the fastest-ever players in the NFL, rookie Xavier Worthy, to a pass-catching crew that still includes future NFL Hall of Fame Travis Kelce.
Factor in the fact that Mahomes will not even hit age 30 until 2025, and his NFL MVP odds have never looked better.
C.J. Stroud +750
Houston Texans’ QB C.J. Stroud took the entire league by storm (and by surprise) last season as a rookie. And after winning Rookie of the Year in 2023, the NFL MVP trophy might be the next award coming Stroud’s way. His NFL MVP odds are second-highest heading into the season.
What can Stroud do in Year Two? Well, the Texans just added WR Stefon Diggs to complement their #1 wideout, Nico Collins, plus they got an upgrade at running back with Joe Mixon.
Joe Burrow +800
With several recent seasons cut short by injuries, NFL fans are eager to see what Joe Burrow can do if he stays healthy.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ star QB has all the tools and the swagger to score himself an NFL MVP award. He’s also got the weapons on offense, with three-time All-Pro WR Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins leading the way. But Chase’s current contract and playing status are shaky. Without him back in the lineup, we could see Burrow’s NFL MVP odds slide as the season progresses.
Josh Allen +800
Averaging well over 4,000 yards and 30+ TDs in each of the past four seasons, Buffalo Bills’ QB Josh Allen is an annual contender for the NFL MVP award before every season starts.
Is 2024 the year Allen finally breaks through?
The Bills lost Diggs to the Texans in the offseason, so football fans and oddsmakers might be wondering who Allen’s going to throw to this year. Tight end Dalton Kincaid looks ready to step into that void, but that may not be enough. Allen will have to put in a spectacular season with his passing and his running to become the league’s most valuable player.
Jordan Love +1000
Green Bay Packers’ fans have to love that their starting QB Jordan Love has better odds of winning the NFL MVP award than Aaron Rodgers this season.
Rodgers famously took offense when the Pack picked Love as their next QB several years ago. But after a breakout season in 2023, Love may have bragging rights by the end of the 2024 season.
In his last nine games of the 2023 season including the NFC Wild Card game, Love threw 21 TDs and just one interception. That Wild Card game also put Love on the map as he dropped 48 points on the Dallas Cowboys.
The Packers are one of the league’s youngest teams and are expected to go far – if they can, NFL MVP voters might like Love.
Aaron Rodgers +1800
Besides Mahomes, the New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers is the only other multiple NFL MVP winner on Bovada’s list of NFL MVP Favorites. He’s won it four times, all with his previous team, the Green Bay Packers.
The old – and at age 40, we can officially say that he’s old – superstar QB is healthy again and he’s surrounded by big-time offensive weapons in WR Garret Wilson and RB Breece Hall.
But oddsmakers are likely concerned about Rodgers’ ability to fully come back from an Achilles tear at his age, which is why his NFL MVP odds aren’t as high as they would be with so much talent to work with.
Deebo Samuel +2500
The last non-quarterback to win the NFL MVP award was Adrian Peterson, way back in 2012.
That may not bode well for Deebo Samuel’s MVP chances, but if anyone’s going to do it outside the QB position, it would be the San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver/all-around weapon.
Samuel can break games open with his speed, running out of the backfield, or as a pure wide receiver. He had 12 touchdowns receiving and another 5 rushing last season, and he may potentially have a bigger role in the 2024 offense given Brendan Aiyuk’s uncertain playing status for the Niners.
For these reasons, he’s got the best NFL MVP odds of any position player outside the QB position.
Caleb Williams +3300
Can a rookie win the NFL MVP award? Yes. Has a rookie ever won the NFL MVP award? Well, aside from the legendary Jim Brown, no.
But Chicago Bears’ QB and #1 overall draft pick Caleb Williams has received plenty of praise for his work in the preseason, and the Bears’ management has set him up for success by adding WR Keenan Allen and RB D’Andre Swift.
The Bears are also playing a last-place schedule with a first-class defense, which could make it a smoother ride to the NFL Playoffs in January for Williams and his teammates.
