Building a World Cup Team Using Active WWE Superstars

Building a World Cup XI Using Active WWE Superstars

What if WWE was forced to field a soccer team at the FIFA World Cup? Which active WWE Superstars would make the squad?

After carefully considering athleticism, size, personality, leadership, and how each Superstar’s character would translate to the pitch, I’ve assembled a 4-3-3 formation capable of competing with the world’s best.

Goalkeeper – Gunther

Every great team needs a commanding presence between the posts.

Gunther is the obvious choice. He’s massive, disciplined, rarely makes mistakes, and thrives under pressure. Opponents would take one look at him standing in goal and immediately start aiming for the corners. Much like his wrestling style, he’d make the simple saves look effortless while intimidating everyone around him.

Right Back – Chad Gable

A fullback needs endurance, technique, and intelligence.

Chad Gable was an Olympic wrestler for a reason. His athleticism is among the best in WWE, and he’d have the stamina to run up and down the touchline for 90 minutes. He’d also be the type of player constantly barking instructions and organizing teammates.

Centre Back – Oba Femi

Every elite defense needs a physically dominant center-back who can control the penalty area.

Oba Femi is built for that role. A former shot put athlete, he possesses incredible strength, power, and explosiveness while still moving surprisingly well for his size. He’d dominate aerial battles, bully opposing strikers off the ball, and become a major threat on attacking set pieces.

Much like defenders such as Virgil van Dijk in his prime, Oba wouldn’t need to fly into reckless challenges. His sheer presence would discourage attackers from testing him in the first place.

Centre Back – Drew McIntyre

Drew brings size, leadership, and composure.

Standing well over six feet tall, he’d dominate set pieces at both ends of the field. Unlike some defenders who rely solely on strength, Drew has the presence of a captain and would keep the back line organized when things get chaotic.

Left Back – Carmelo Hayes

Carmelo Hayes

Modern soccer demands attacking fullbacks.

Carmelo Hayes has the quickness and agility needed to thrive on the flank. He’d constantly overlap, provide width, and have the confidence to take defenders on one-on-one. If WWE had its own Alphonso Davies, Melo might be the closest thing.

Defensive Midfielder – Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins Bovada

Every championship team needs someone pulling the strings in midfield.

Rollins is the engine of this team. He has experience, intelligence, leadership, and an ability to adapt to any situation. He’d sit in front of the defense, dictate tempo, and make sure everyone remains organized.

Central Midfielder – Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes Bovada

Cody is the team’s captain.

He may not be the flashiest player on the pitch, but he’d be the emotional leader. The player rallying the squad when they’re down a goal and lifting the trophy if they win it all. Every successful soccer team has a leader that teammates believe in, and Cody fits that role perfectly.

Attacking Midfielder – LA Knight

LA Knight - Bovada

Yeah!

Every team needs a player who wants the spotlight. LA Knight would be the creative playmaker constantly demanding the ball. He’d be chirping opponents, hyping up fans, and trying the risky pass that unlocks a defense.

Whether it works or not, he’s taking the shot.

Right Wing – Logan Paul

Logan Paul - Bovada

Love him or hate him, Logan might be the most naturally gifted athlete in WWE.

His speed, explosiveness, coordination, and confidence make him a perfect winger. He’d be terrifying in open space and capable of producing moments of brilliance that change matches.

Left Wing – Je’Von Evans

Je’Von Evans - Bovada

Every World Cup squad needs a player who can create something out of absolutely nothing.

Je’Von Evans is arguably the most explosive athlete currently signed to WWE. His speed, agility, and ability to change direction instantly would make him a nightmare for defenders in open space. He’d be the type of winger who constantly takes players on, stretches defenses, and produces highlight-reel moments that get replayed for years.

At just 22 years old, he’d also bring the fearless energy that every great World Cup team needs from its young stars.

Striker – Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker - Bovada

If you’re designing the perfect soccer striker in a lab, you probably end up with Bron Breakker.

He’s explosive, powerful, fast, aggressive, and relentless. Defenders would hate playing against him. He’d press nonstop, attack crosses with authority, and bully defenders physically while still having the pace to run in behind.

Manager – Paul Heyman

Would anyone else even make sense?

Heyman would spend the entire tournament convincing the media that his squad is the greatest soccer team in history, regardless of the actual results. By the end of the World Cup, he’d either be lifting the trophy or somehow talking his way into managing the champions anyway.
