The Breakdown

After months of verbal sparring, KSI and Tommy Fury finally go in to battle to settle their differences in the much-hyped boxing showdown in Manchester on Saturday night. YouTuber KSI (real name Olajide Olatunji) has crossed over into boxing, rapping and entrepreneurship in recent years, partnering with fellow YouTuber Logan Paul to launch the hugely successful energy drink company Prime in 2022. Next on the agenda for KSI is this clash with Fury, who some will know from his stint on the reality TV show Love Island, although others will know him as the half-brother of heavyweight boxing champion of the world Tyson Fury. Tommy Fury is undefeated as a professional, while fellow Briton KSI has also never been beaten – however he has less experience in the pro ranks. In the co-main event, Logan Paul will be in action against fellow American Dillon Danis, a former teammate of UFC star Conor McGregor, and it is fair to say the build-up to this fight has been an ugly journey of trash talking from all sides. Earlier this week fans of these massive events were reaching for their popcorn early doors following more dramatic scenes however this time it was battle of the dad’s! Father of Tommy Fury, John Fury needed to be held back by security after almost getting into a fight with Jake and Logan Paul’s father, Greg Paul, at an eventful open workout on Wednesday. John took centre stage and began to shout ‘I’ll wipe the floor with all of you’ into a large group of people. Greg seemed to take John’s words as a direct challenge and could be heard responding: ‘Come on John, let’s go!’

In standard Fury style, John was in no mood to back down, replying ‘If you think you can take it, Greg Paul, I’ll let you hit me first!’ John Fury’s rage came just moments after he was involved in another altercation with KSI after he appeared to be goading the Fury family while they gave an interview. With KSI refusing to keep quiet, John hurled a bottle in his direction, forcing the YouTuber-turned-boxer to duck for cover. After avoiding the bottle, KSI jumped back up and proceeded to spit in John’s direction from the balcony. All in all, dreadful behaviour which surely none of those involved are proud of. The beef between Dillon Danis and the Paul brothers has been a far cry from amicable as well.  The trading of personal insults has been happening online for years, especially since Jake Paul initially offered Danis a fight back in 2020 for $1 million. A fight which never materialized. Now that Dillon is getting ready to fight Logan Paul, things have ramped up a notch again. The former UFC fighter has gone after the YouTuber’s fiancée, Nina Agdal, prompting a lawsuit and restraining order. The pair have constantly been in a verbal war, with Danis continually complaining that the lawsuit should not happen given they are involved in a real fight and can settle it there. Saturday night fans will be tuning in in their millions to witness the explosive outcome to the months of hate filled exchanges. Who will come out victorious and not only walk away with the sizeable purse but more importantly, the bragging rights?
