The hype surrounding the film has whizzed up since the casting’s original announcement back in 2021. Which is more than two years since the film’s actual theatrical release. Deep-rooted pop culture fans know this announcement became a major full-circle moment for Grande, as she landed her dream acting role, as the star has been a musical theater fanatic. This is evident with her debut ‘Yours Truly’ album track, “Popular Song” derived from the musical track of similar name.

Over 89%: -120

Many factors leading up to the film’s Popcornmeter freshness includes Ariana Grande revealing that she was bestowed the blessing by theater staple Kristin Chenoweth to play Glinda, who she herself played the same role on Broadway in the early 2000s. In a recent Sentimental Men Podcast episode, Grande talked about the intimate moment: “Oh my God, I was hoping this would happen. I love you and I trust you with it baby girl. Just do you thing, just do you thing…you’re gonna backdoor them!”

With nods like this, both Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande-Butera will be campaigning towards the big leagues as the best lead & supporting actress categories according to The Hollywood Reporter.

To add, the film is gearing up to surpass one of the influential films, ‘Barbie’ starring Margot Robbie as it is estimated to surpass it by on opening weekend.

89% Or Under: -120

The film is being split between two parts with the first releasing this month & the second part premiering exactly a year later. Both production & cast chose to split the story into two parts to fully delve moviegoers into the mesmerizing & dazzling world of ‘Wicked.’ With it they are investing heavy thought into the complex relationship between the characters, avoiding any musical number removals & scenes for the play’s fanatics. Although this decision makes right to the plot, this decision could go both of two ways as it could make average consumers feel as the wait time for the next installment seem unnecessary & certain scenes of the film feel like a drag when it could have been concise.

Another aspect that could lead to this betting odd is that both the actresses recent Popcornmeter ratings have not succeeded 89%. Although Grande’s role in ‘Don’t Look Up’ was minor, the film received a 78% whereas Erivo’s 2023 film, ‘Luther: The Fallen Sun’ bordered the opposing odds at a rating of 85%.

Although the future of this outcome can go one of two ways, if you’re an avid fan of the ‘Wicked’ universe or a pop culture fan alike, you should add more excitement surrounding this release by testing your betting luck. Who knows, this could become your Emerald City.
