SAN FRANCISCO 49ers +550
Surprise! It’s not the Chiefs who take the top spot, but the 2nd-place Niners that oddsmakers like in next year’s Super Bowl. At +550, the early sentiment seems to favor quarterback Brock Purdy, wide receiver Deebo Samuel, running back Christian McCaffrey, and the rest of the squad that just lost Super Bowl LVIII. It’s easy to see why. San Francisco just came off a season where they won the NFC Conference Championship and were the #1 seed heading into the playoffs. They were one or two plays away from beating the Chiefs in a game that went late into overtime.
They’re still young, with an MVP candidate in Purdy who’s only going to be 25 years old when Super Bowl LIX kicks off next year. Samuel and McCaffrey are only 3 years older. The team will also have the entire off-season to analyze what went wrong in Super Bowl 58 and fix any holes in their lineup.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS +650
Many people might have expected the Chiefs to be the odds-on favorite to win as soon as the Super Bowl LIX odds were released. After all, they just won Super Bowl LVIII and have become the NFL’s latest dynasty, winning three out of the past five Super Bowls. Oh, and they have this guy named Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback and three-time Super Bowl MVP, who essentially put the Chiefs on his back for the 2024 Super Bowl and willed them to victory over San Francisco in Las Vegas. But what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? The oddsmakers took this mantra to heart when putting KC behind San Francisco in the running for Super Bowl LIV. They recognize that, when it comes to pure talent, the Niners’ roster is stronger overall than Kansas City’s.
They know that the greatest tight end and postseason pass catcher of all time, Travis Kelce, is going to be 35 years old when the Bourbon Street Super Bowl rolls around. They also know that Kansas City led the league in dropped passes in the 2023 regular season. Of course, KC’s defense is 100% legit, allowing the second-fewest points per game during the regular season. They also have the man considered the best coach in the game, Andy Reid. And that Mahomes guy won’t even be 30 years old by the time next year’s Super Bowl kicks off.
BALTIMORE RAVENS +900
The Baltimore Ravens finished the 2023 regular season with a 13-4 record and a likely league MVP in Lamar Jackson operating in his prime. They cruised to a win in their Divisional Round game too, and with the league’s #1-ranked defense, they looked as though Super Bowl LVIII was all theirs. However, the Super Bowl LIX odds tell a different story. The Ravens lost to the Chiefs in the AFC Conference Championship, with questions being raised about QB Jackson’s ability to deliver in the playoffs. Despite his regular-season brilliance, he’s now 2-4 in the postseason.
This raises questions in the oddsmakers’ minds too, of course. Having a quarterback who can lead his team under pressure is a huge requirement to make it through the playoffs and into the Super Bowl. But if you’re a fan who thinks Jackson will still be able to deliver, the rest of the team is among the league’s best – and +900 might look pretty attractive in these early days of wagering on the next Super Bowl.
CINCINNATI BENGALS +1200
Speaking of quarterbacks, the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow might have something to say about Super Bowl LIV. The star QB was knocked out for the year midway through the 2023 season with a serious wrist injury. Until that happened, Burrow was already among the league’s elite players, and he was surrounded by top-flight wide receivers like Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. And as we’ve seen, an elite QB is often the key to super success. This places the Bengals in the top six when it comes to Super Bowl LIX odds. Who are some long shots that might be worth a closer look?
HOUSTON TEXANS +2200
The Houston Texans surprised the league in 2023, with a 10-7 record and a Wild Card Weekend spanking of the Cleveland Browns. Even more surprising was the play of Texans’ QB C.J. Stroud, who not only took the Rookie of the Year honors but was also a candidate for overall league MVP.
The Texans might look tasty at +2200, but they also have a league-high 30 free agents on their roster this off-season, so while Stroud will be back, his supporting cast might look quite different.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS +6500
If you like your Super Bowl LIX odds long, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be the way to go. Sure, the Bucs’ 9-8 record in a soft NFC South division isn’t making bettors rush to book flights from Tampa to New Orleans next February, but QB Baker Mayfield reminded many of his Heisman Trophy days with his 2023 play. They won easily in the Wild Card round too. With a few solid moves to shore up the defense, Tampa could turn some heads in 2024.
The NFL off-season is a time for fans everywhere to reset, feel optimistic about their teams, and get some great Super Bowl LIX odds too.
