Let’s run through Week 8’s upsets:

Louisville forced four Carson Beck interceptions and beat No. 2 Miami 24-21. Minnesota ran over No. 25 Nebraska 24-6. No. 9 Georgia brought No. 5 Ole Miss back to earth with a 43-35 upset. Arizona State took out undefeated No. 7 Texas Tech 26-22. And No. 17 Vanderbilt officially jumped ahead of Tennessee as a program with a 31-24 win over No. 10 LSU.

Take a deep breath. We’ve got another eight weeks of wild NCAA action. Here are the best NCAAF Week 9 odds before the weekend.

No. 8 Ole Miss Rebels (6-1) at No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners (6-1)

  • Odds: Oklahoma -5.5
  • Total: 54.5
  • Time: 12 p.m. ET
  • ABC

After ranking as high as fourth in the AP Top 25, Ole Miss looked pedestrian against Washington State in Week 7 and lost at No. 9 Georgia in Week 8 as 7.5-point underdogs. That said, it appears that the Associated Press had mercy on the Rebels and only dropped them three spots in the rankings. Unfortunately, the freefall can continue, as Ole Miss continues its SEC road trip against No. 13 Oklahoma – and once again, they’re underdogs.

The issue isn’t the offense – Ole Miss ranks eighth nationally in passing yards and 16th in scoring – it’s the defense. The Rebels sit outside the top 50 in total defense, surrendering more than 370 yards per game, and all but give up in the red zone, allowing opponents to score on over 80% of their trips inside the 20.

This might be the opportunity quarterback John Mateer needs to climb back into the Heisman odds race after a horrible performance in a loss to Texas in Week 7.

No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1) at South Carolina Gamecocks (3-4)

  • Odds: Alabama -12.5
  • Total: 47.5
  • Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
  • ABC

After a Week 1 loss to Florida State, it felt like this was the year to leave Alabama for dead. They’ve rattled off six-straight wins since and have gone 5-1 against the spread (SU). Their run includes a 12.5-point cover against No. 10-ranked Vanderbilt, the same spread they’ll face when they visit the Gamecocks on Saturday.

Everything tells you Alabama should dominate at Williams-Brice Stadium. Gamecocks QB LaNorris Sellers hasn’t lived up to the expectations his talent was supposed to provide, and they’ve gone 1-4 in the SEC, including a failure to cover as dogs versus LSU and Oklahoma.

However, the 2025 college football season has rendered odds, rankings, and momentum meaningless, especially when the ‘Tide are on the road and facing arguably the most talented dual-threat QB in the nation.

No. 15 Missouri Tigers at No. 10 Vanderbilt Commodores

  • Odds: Vanderbilt -2.5
  • Total: 52
  • Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
  • ESPN

Vanderbilt’s rise this year is a billboard as to why the NIL is a good thing for college football. Second-tier programs now have a chance to compete, and the Commodores have exploded into the college football conversation. Last week, the Commodores were favored for the first time against the SEC in nearly seven years, and after an impressive 31-24 win, are favored again against the SEC’s Missouri.

The Commodores’ ability to win and cover will come down to new Heisman candidate QB Diego Pavia. His ability as a dual threat caused fits for a solid LSU defense, throwing for 160 yards and one touchdown while running for 86 yards with two TDs.
The possible reason the spread is so close despite arguably lesser talent than LSU is that Missouri was able to stifle LaNorris Sellers on the ground with 10 carries for -28 yards.

No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies at No. 20 LSU Tigers

  • Odds: Texas A&M -2.5
  • Total: 48.5
  • Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
  • ABC

Texas A&M visits Baton Rouge in a marquee SEC showdown. The Aggies are slight -2.5 favorites with a total around 48.5. A&M enters with one of the top offenses in the league and the resume to match, while LSU brings a stingy defense (allowing roughly11.8 points per game) and strong turnover margin.

The key for LSU will be limiting big plays from QB Marcel Reed and receiver Mario Craver, while A&M will test the Tigers’ adaptability and defensive depth. This is the first-ranked opponent A&M has faced since it upset No. 8 Notre Dame 41-40.
