HOW TO PLAY SUPER BOWL PROPS
The beauty of props is that anyone can play, and you don’t need to be a football expert to win big. The bets range from the length of the National Anthem to the color of the Gatorade that will be dunked on the winning coach. And of course, the bets also cover plenty of action on the field.
Let’s get into some of the most popular and interesting props we’ve got for Super Bowl 59 on the Super Bowl Prop Sheet Contest.
Will the National Anthem be over or under 120.5 seconds?
Jon Batiste will be performing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LIX, the first time he’ll be handling the honors there. But it’s not the first time he’s done the anthem on a major stage.
He’s done it at the 2017 NBA All-Star Game, where he sang it all in a pretty speedy 90 seconds. At the US Open Tennis, his anthem lasted 106 seconds. But, to throw a curveball at prop sheet bettors who might be leaning towards the Under, at the Aspen Ideas Festival from years ago he performed the song in 135 seconds.
What will the first offensive play of the game be?
Run or pass? Those are your two options for this bet in the Super Bowl Prop Sheet Contest. If you think the Eagles will go with the league’s best running back, Saquon Barkley, to start the game off (he did take the first run play for a 60-yard touchdown in Philly’s NFC Conference Championship win over Washington just two weeks ago), then Run would be the way to go.
If you think KC’s Patrick Mahomes will pass to his trusty tight end Travis Kelce, who has 31 catches for 350 yards in his illustrious 4-game Super Bowl career, then Pass is the play for you.
Will Kendrick Lamar wear a bandana during the halftime show?
See, we told you that anyone can get in on the Bovada prop sheet contest. This is one of the least football-related questions you’ll see for Super Bowl LIX.
Kendrick Lamar is the headline performer at the Super Bowl halftime show, and he has a history of rocking a bandana when he’s on stage. He likes to promote neutrality in the long-running battles between gangs from his hometown, so he might take the opportunity that the huge Super Bowl exposure provides to spread his message with a bandana.
Will a quarterback win MVP?
Back to the action on the field, the Super Bowl MVP award is a popular prop bet.
This year, the odds favor Kansas City’s legendary Patrick Mahomes the most. He’s already won the Super Bowl MVP award three times in his career, and he’s not even 30 years old. This would suggest he definitely has another MVP performance in him.
At the same time, there’s a non-quarterback on the opposing team this year who could take the MVP crown. Philly’s Saquon Barkley is coming off a monster season at running back and he’s been having an epic playoff run too. If anyone can dethrone Mahomes, it’s Saquon.
But Barkley is facing an uphill battle, historically at least. Quarterbacks have won 33 times out of the 58 Super Bowls that have been played so far.
Will the game go to overtime?
The current Super Bowl spread gives Kansas City a slight edge at -1.5 points.
With the odds so close, overtime looks like more of a possibility than in Super Bowls where the spread is wider. Also, KC just went to OT last season, eventually winning 25-22 over San Francisco, so there’s recent history to consider.
But with just two overtime games played out of all 58 previous Super Bowls, it does look like a long shot to go with the Yes side here.
Who will win the coin toss?
This is maybe the ultimate Super Bowl prop bet – a literal coin toss of a decision.
Tails has the edge across all the previous Super Bowls, winning 52% of the time. Heads, at 48%, has some catching up to do.
How will you decide on the coin toss when it comes time to fill out your Bovada Super Bowl prop sheet? We suggest a coin toss at home.
With up to $25,000 on the line for a first-place win in Bovada’s prop sheet contest, this could be the deciding factor. Maybe it’s better to leave it to fate…
Who will throw for more yards?
It’s KC’s Patrick Mahomes vs. Philly’s Jalen Hurts, and it looks like a very close call.
Even though Kansas City won 15 games during the regular season, Mahomes had one of his statistically worst years. It’s actually Hurts who averaged a super-slim 2.4 yards per game more than Mahomes in 2024-25.
The conventional wisdom, however, would suggest that the NFL’s leading rusher Saquon Barkley will be running a lot in Super Bowl 59, with Hurts needing to throw much less often than Mahomes.
In recent history, Jalen Hurts threw for 246 yards in the Eagles’ most recent playoff win, but just 128 and 131 yards in the two previous playoff games.
Mahomes, meanwhile, threw for 245 yards—literally just 1 yard less than Hurts—in the Chiefs’ last game and for just 177 yards the week before that.
Sounds like another coin toss might be to make your props pick for this one.
