It’s impossible to have a Bovada Casino without a roulette wheel. It’s one of the O.G. casino games invented in the 18th century. Its look is timeless, its geometry is perfect, and it’s arguably the first random number generator. Millions of people have tried to anticipate where the ball will land to no avail.

But what happens when you take that table and blow it up to massive proportions? JustDustin attempted to answer that question by crafting a wheel big enough to shatter the world record. With a mix of ingenuity, months of hard work, and plenty of laughs, Dustin and his talented colleagues built the largest roulette wheel in the world. Then, they played a new version of the classic game so competitive that it left the wheel in pieces.

The Record to Beat

The first step in breaking a world record is understanding the old one. The current Guinness World Record for the largest roulette table was held by a casino in Lebanon, measuring 28 feet and 8.48 inches. To capture the new record, Dustin would need to craft a table at least 29 feet in diameter. They went for the European version, which differs from the American version in having 36 numbers and one green zero, instead of an additional double zero. While most Bovada players enjoy the American version, the European version has slightly better odds – something to remember the next time you play online.

 Lights, Lazers, Logistical Nightmares

A roulette wheel is a circle with some lines and colors that you spin. That means finding a 29-foot circle, a super-sharp hacksaw, and a lot of manpower, right?

Wrong.

Breaking records is never simple. Dustin’s team faced numerous technical challenges while trying to meet their ambitious goal. First, they experimented with laser-cutting parts of the wheel, only to realize the pieces were too small and less precise than expected. The panels were crooked, the machinery was slow, and with 37 numbers to get through, the task was a marathon.

Then there was the ball. How do you spin it? Well, upon studying the Lebanese version, they realized it didn’t use a ball; instead, it used lights. This solved the issue of requiring a physicist to achieve casino-regulated balance. Instead, they wired 37 magnetic light switches to simulate a rolling ball effect across the oversized wheel.

Still, the project was far from easy. It took hours of wiring, meticulous testing, and countless adjustments. When it was all said and done, it was over a month of work.

A Record-Breaking Roulette Table is Revealed

After a ton of effort, a ton of stress, and probably a bit of online roulette, the colossal, record-breaking wheel was born: 29-plus feet of black-and-red greatness – with a sliver of green, of course.

“It’s so big I can literally run around it like a track star,” Dustin joked. The wheel “spins” by having lights on each number that move clockwise, just like you’re spinning a real wheel.

Dustin Puts the Record-Breaking Wheel in Action

But it’s not just an art piece and a light show; it works. Dustin and his crew proved that by playing roulette on the giant wheel with some fun twists. Dustin, his friend Eric, and his friend Trent each received a third of the numbers on the board:

  • Eric: Numbers 1-12
  • Dustin: Numbers 13-24
  • Trent: Numbers 25-36

When the wheel lands on one of their numbers, it’s not a good thing. That number is smashed with a sledgehammer. The game eliminates players once all their numbers are gone.

To add a little extra juice, each player can bet on red or black before each spin. Guess right and they can eliminate an additional number from the board – essentially earning ammo to sabotage their opponent. The player to survive would claim bragging rights and $1,000.

Roulette Survivor: Outwit, Outplay, Outspin

Dustin may have created a new casino party game – Roulette Survivor – because what ensued was enough strategy, backstabbing, and paybacks to make Jeff Probst light up a tiki torch.

Shockingly, Eric was the ultimate survivor by forming temporary alliances with both Trent and Dustin, then subsequently outlasting Dustin in the final rounds despite having one number left versus Dustin’s four.

Record-Breaking Proves Roulette Still Rules

What’s the bigger achievement here? The record-breaking wheel? Or the fact that a fun new way to play was born out of it?

Dustin and his crew demonstrated why this game has been a perfect piece of gambling machinery for centuries. It combines:

  • Simplicity: Bet on red, black, or a number and let fate decide.
  • Suspense: Every spin is a ball of anticipation until fate and physics finally choose a number.
  • Fun: These tables still attract a crowd at casinos, and you don’t need to smash numbers to do it. With jackpot-level cash available on one lucky spin, it’ll never lose its place as a gaming staple.
  • Strategy: There are endless ways to bet on the game to manipulate the odds.
