There aren’t too many casino games more satisfying than roulette. The wheel itself is the traditional centerpiece of many live casinos, drawing players in with its colors and sounds – and the gameplay, which is as simple as it gets. All you have to do is place your chips on the layout and watch the wheel go ‘round.

You can get that experience anytime you like by playing roulette at Bovada. Most players will be familiar with American Roulette, featuring the two green spaces on the wheel: the single zero (0) and the double zero (00). Whether you’re playing the Classic version or the newer streamlined version, you’ll be dragging and dropping your virtual chips somewhere on the felt to place your bets. Here’s a look at the different wagers you can make while playing American Roulette.

Outside Bets

These are the bets you make on the “outside” of the layout, and they include the most familiar wagers in American Roulette: Red/Black, Odd/Even, and Low/High (1-18 or 19-36). All these bets pay even-money, making them easy for beginners who want to maximize their time at the wheel while keeping an eye on their bankrolls.

There are two other outside bets in American Roulette: the Dozen bet and the Column bet. These pay out at 2:1. For the Dozen bet, you’re betting on the ball landing in one of the three groupings of 12 (1-12, 13-24 or 25-36). For the Column bet, you’re betting on the ball landing in one of the three columns on the layout. Note that with the modernized American layout, the columns are actually rows; just place your chips where it says “2:1” on the right and give the wheel a spin.

Inside Bets

Ever had the urge to bet it all on Black 20? This Straight (aka Single) bet is made by placing your chips in the corresponding numbered square on the “inside” of the layout. To make the remaining inside bets, where you’re betting on more than one number at the same time, you have to place your chips on the edge or corner of the squares that your chosen numbers share. Here’s a list of these bets and which numbers they cover:

Split: Any two adjacent numbers (vertical or horizontal)
Street: Any three consecutive numbers (horizontal)
Corner (aka Square): Any four numbers that meet in a corner
Six Line (aka Double Street): Any six consecutive numbers forming two horizontal lines
Trio: Any three adjacent numbers including a zero (0-1-2, 0-00-2, or 00-2-3)
Top Line (aka Basket, aka Five): A special bet covering 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3
